NRM Launches Aggressive Grassroots Mobilisation Drive in Mityana Ahead of 2026 Polls

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has launched an aggressive grassroots mobilisation campaign in Mityana District, targeting voters right from their homes as the party works to reclaim political ground ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The drive, spearheaded by district party leaders, focuses on door-to-door engagements intended to strengthen the party’s structures from the village level up to constituencies, while boosting support for NRM flagbearers at every leadership stage.

Mityana District NRM spokesperson, Nziza Kibirige, said the new strategy is designed to help the party reconnect with voters and understand the reasons behind its losses in the 2021 polls.

According to Nziza, many voters felt abandoned by their leaders during the previous election cycle, leading to a significant shift in support.

“This door-to-door approach gives us a chance to listen to voters and understand exactly what went wrong in 2021,” he said.

“We want to correct those mistakes and rebuild trust with the people of Mityana.”

Nziza further urged NRM members to avoid internal divisions, emphasising that unity is essential if the party is to secure victory for all its flagbearers in 2026.

He noted that infighting had previously weakened the party’s mobilization efforts, giving rival blocs an advantage.

“We are appealing to all NRM supporters and leaders to stop working in isolation,” Nziza added. “If we join efforts and mobilise as one team, we can ensure that every NRM flagbearer wins at all levels.”

Party officials say the mobilisation teams will continue moving village to village, engaging households, strengthening local committees, and rallying support for President Yoweri Museveni and other party candidates as the election season draws closer.
