Common Man's Party (CMP) presidential candidate Mubarak Munyagwa has expressed gratitude to his parents for instilling in him the values and qualities that have shaped his bid for the country’s highest office.
In a statement, Munyagwa said,
"Democracy allows different choices even within the same family. I thank my parents for nurturing presidential material that is ready to and going to serve the country."
The remarks underscore the role of family support in Munyagwa’s decision to run and highlight the broader principle of democracy, which embraces diversity and individual choice, even within families.
Munyagwa’s campaign is increasingly viewed as a significant challenge to the incumbent president, focusing on key issues such as economic empowerment, education, and healthcare.
He expressed confidence that his message is resonating with Ugandans.
"I am ready to serve the country and work towards a better future for all Ugandans. I am grateful for the support of my family and the people of Uganda, and I will not let them down," he added.
