The Public Relations Association of Uganda has honoured top communicators, agencies, and institutions that shaped the country’s PR landscape over the past year, unveiling 13 winners at its 9th Excellence Awards held in Kampala.
The awards ceremony, hosted on December 4, 2025 at Protea Hotel, brought together senior communication professionals, corporate executives, media practitioners, government officials, and experts from marketing and advertising.
This year’s theme, “Recognizing Innovation and Impact in Public Relations,” underscored the industry’s shift toward creativity, measurable impact, and strategic communication.
PRAU President Irene Nakasiita said the annual awards were created to highlight exceptional work across Uganda’s public relations sector, noting that the 2025 finalists demonstrated a level of innovation that continues to elevate professional standards.
“In this year's edition of the PRAU Excellence Awards, we are not just celebrating winners, but innovators who have redefined what is possible in our profession through creative concepts that continue to prove that strategic communication is a powerful driver of trust, progress, and transformation,” Nakasiita said.
She congratulated all winners and finalists “for raising the standards of professional excellence in Uganda’s public relations industry.”
Thirteen categories were awarded this year, reflecting a diverse range of PR disciplines.
The winners were:
- Student Award: Danniella Makiika – Uganda Martyrs University
- Young Communicator of the Year: Gaaba Lakel Maria
- Best Media Relations and Media Management Campaign: UEDCL
- Best Event/Experiential Campaign: MultiChoice Uganda
- Best Internal Communication Campaign: Uganda Baati Limited / MAAD McCANN
- Best Crisis Communication: Equity Bank Uganda Limited / Capital One Group
- Best CSR and ESG Campaign: NCBA Bank
- Best Public Affairs Campaign: UEDCL
- Best Corporate Communication Campaign: DFCU Bank / Capital One Group
- Best Not-for-Profit Campaign: Sauti Plus / Reach a Hand Uganda
- Best Social/Digital Communication Campaign: Serene Beauty
- Best PR Agency: Node Group
- Best Overall PR Campaign: Serene Beauty
The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Sarah Kagingo, recognised for her longstanding contribution to professionalising public relations in Uganda.
South African High Commissioner to Uganda, Solly Mollo, who served as Chief Guest, congratulated the winners and applauded PRAU for sustaining a platform that rewards excellence.
He encouraged the association to pursue collaboration opportunities with the High Commission to promote visibility and mutual interests through PR-led initiatives.
The event also acknowledged a broad group of sponsors, including Bank of Uganda, NBS TV, AfroMobile App, NextCom, PwC, UBC TV, Affinity Media, UNOC, Crown Beverages, Electricity Regulatory Authority, and Uganda Civil Aviation Authority.

Founded in 1976, PRAU is the umbrella body for Uganda’s private and public PR professionals, brand managers, communication experts, and practitioners in related fields.
It is affiliated with the East African Public Relations Association, the African Public Relations Association, and the International Public Relations Association.
