Coca-Cola and the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) have officially launched the 2025 festive season with the annual Christmas Caravan and a citywide lighting campaign, aiming to bring communities together, spread holiday cheer, and support vulnerable groups across the capital and beyond.
The Coca-Cola Christmas Caravan, a hallmark of the company’s end-of-year celebrations, will tour towns and trading centres nationwide, offering music, entertainment, giveaways and community engagement events.
The initiative is designed to foster togetherness and shared holiday experiences, particularly in a year marked by political tension ahead of the elections.
“Our consumers have walked with us throughout the year, and this season gives us the chance to celebrate with them,” said Kirunda Magoola, Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability Director at Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU).
“The Coca-Cola Christmas Caravan is our way of saying thank you and sharing in the joy of the festive season together.”
At the city level, KCCA is partnering with Coca-Cola to illuminate key trees and plants across Kampala as part of a broader campaign to rebuild the Christmas spirit.
Speaking at the launch, Rita Kememirembe, KCCA’s Head of Tourism, said the initiative is intended to bring families and communities together during a politically charged period.
“Our expectation as KCCA is really to rebuild the Christmas spirit, especially now as we go into elections,” Kememirembe said. “It is important that families, friends and communities gather, share, gift and celebrate together.”
KCCA will designate specific locations for public lighting installations and has called on business owners to participate in the campaign.
The authority also announced a series of activities for street children scheduled between December 20 and 23, though details remain under wraps.
“We are planning something for the street kids — we love them very much — but I don’t want to give away the surprise,” Kememirembe said, noting that ongoing rehabilitation efforts have reduced the number of street children in Kampala.
The combined Coca-Cola and KCCA festivities are intended to promote unity, lift the holiday spirit, and support vulnerable communities as the city and the country celebrate the season.
The Christmas Caravan will continue touring communities through December, culminating in Christmas Week activities nationwide.
