Eighteen Emyooga SACCOS in Bukuya Constituency have held a joint Annual General Meeting aimed at improving governance, strengthening leadership, and equipping members with skills needed to grow enterprises, enhance loan recovery, and advance household wealth creation across Kassanda District

The eighteen Emyooga group SACCOS in Bukuya Constituency, Kassanda District, have held their Mass Annual General Meeting (AGM) with the goal of strengthening governance and empowering members with skills needed for wealth creation, job generation, and full participation in the money economy—key pillars in Uganda’s broader social-economic transformation agenda.

According to Tadeo Atuhura, the Communications Manager at the Microfinance Support Centre (MSC), the AGM is not only a compulsory requirement for all SACCOS but also an essential platform for strengthening member capacity and leadership effectiveness.

“This AGM helps SACCO members understand the best practices for financial management, governance, and leadership,” Atuhura said.

“We want every member to gain the knowledge and skills they need to create wealth, start sustainable businesses, and actively take part in the money economy.”

He stressed that proper governance remains central to the success of Emyooga SACCOS, explaining that strong leadership and accountability frameworks contribute to better loan recovery, steady growth, and improved livelihoods.

“When governance is strong, SACCOs thrive. And when SACCOs thrive, communities transform,” he added.

The Mass AGM attracted hundreds of SACCO leaders, treasurers, secretaries, and cluster representatives from across Bukuya.

Participants reviewed annual performance, discussed operational challenges, examined new opportunities for enterprise growth, and conducted elections for new leadership across the various groups.

Attendees expressed optimism that with continued technical support from the Microfinance Support Centre and a commitment to strong governance standards, Emyooga SACCOS in Kasanda District will continue driving grassroots economic empowerment and sustainable household income growth.
