The Uganda Police Force has intensified efforts to curb electoral violence and other related crimes during the ongoing election season.
This follows the rollout of updated emergency response contacts aimed at strengthening community policing and improving public access to security services.
According to Aisha Kayongo, a senior officer in the Directorate of the Chief Political Commissar, the initiative is expected to bolster the fight against crime across the country.
She says the refreshed communication channels will ensure quicker reporting and timely intervention from security teams on the ground.
The new system includes updated phone numbers for all Regional Police Commanders and Subcounty Commanders, complementing the existing Toll-Free Police Patrol lines.
Police have encouraged the public to report not only electoral-related incidents but also serious crimes such as murder, robbery, and violence, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and safety during the electoral period.
