Independent Member of Parliament aspirant for Nansana Municipality, Kayaga Juliet, has vowed to bridge the representation gap for her constituency, promising to champion the interests of residents on the floor of the 12th Parliament.
Speaking during Nansana Municipality Parliamentary debate hosted by NBS Television on Sunday, Kayaga highlighted what she described as the “unmet needs” of Nansana residents under the 11th Parliament.
“The challenge we have is that Nansana Municipality’s voice has not been represented on the floor of Parliament. I want to bridge that gap,” Kayaga said.
She further criticized the current Parliament, saying Ugandans have not benefited from its work and stressing the need for a new legislature that focuses on the issues that directly impact citizens.
“Ugandans have not benefited from the 11th Parliament. The 12th Parliament should focus on addressing the issues that matter to the people,” she said.
Among her key pledges, Kayaga emphasized economic reforms, particularly advocating for the establishment of a minimum wage, noting that salaries in Uganda are currently “unfair” and insufficient to meet the basic needs of workers.
Kayaga is set to face off with former NBS Amasengejje Anchor Zambaali Bulasio Mukasa of the National Unity Platfrom (NUP), Harold Kaija of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), Musoke Hamis Walusimbi of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Ida Buggaga Matovu of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Henry Lubowa of the Democratic Front (DF) and independent candidates Mutebi Ramathan and Kintu Florence; all of whom are seeking to unseat outgoing MP Nsereko Musoke Wakayima who has represented the constituency since 2016.
With just months to the elections, the Nansana Municipality parliamentary seat is poised to become one of the most closely watched contests of the 2026 polls.
