Target Impex Uganda has officially opened its new branch at Forest Mall, expanding its reach after more than 15 years of operating.

The grand opening, held on Friday, drew customers, partners and industry players, with management positioning the new store as a premium destination for high-quality bedding.

Speaking at the launch, Letisha Jjingo Nyeenya, the Chief Executive Officer of Target Impex, said the uptown branch was opened in response to public demand.

“People have been asking for an accessible uptown shop because many could not come downtown,” she said.

“To our retailers, shoppers, and everyone in Kampala, we welcome you to Target. In Uganda, I don’t think anyone can beat our quality.”

Jjingo emphasised that all Target products undergo strict quality checks and are sourced directly from international manufacturers.

She noted that each shipment is verified by UNBS, with samples tested before goods hit the shelves.

“Our products are ISO certified and come from reputable factories. We don’t mix quality and we don’t compromise. Target imports from Egypt, Singapore, South Korea, Indonesia, Turkey and France, strictly avoiding counterfeit items," she said.

The CEO also highlighted the company’s three-year return policy, saying it demonstrates confidence in the durability of their products.

As part of the grand opening and the Black November promotion, Target has slashed prices across all its product lines, with discounts ranging from 10% to 50%.

The offers are particularly targeted at bulk buyers, including hotels, guest houses, lodges, hospitals and Airbnbs.

“We sell hospital sheets, blankets, mattress protectors, pillows and more. Hotel owners and anyone buying in bulk should come and enjoy these mega discounts,” Jjingo added.

Target also runs a support scheme for women entrepreneurs, helping them grow their businesses by providing guidance and follow-up services.

“We walk the customer journey with you. We don’t believe in a one-time transaction. Customer retention and feedback are the foundation of our business,” she said.

At the launch, sleep coach Carolyn Busingye praised the store’s product quality, saying good bedding plays a big role in improving sleep health.

“Our skin is the largest organ, and what it touches affects how well we sleep,” Busingye explained. “Clean, quality bedding improves sleep, while rough or dirty bedding does the opposite.”

She also warned about rising sleep deprivation in Uganda, linking it to hustle culture, stress, poor bedroom environments and late-night phone use.

“If you haven’t slept in 48 hours, you function like someone who is legally drunk,” she noted. “Temperature, clutter, device use, and bedding quality all influence sleep. We must prioritise rest.”

With modern displays and carefully curated stock, Target Impex says the new Forest Mall branch aims to set a new benchmark for bedding retail in Uganda.

“Compare downtown and uptown shops, our quality stands out. Before any product reaches the customer, we test it. That’s why we’ve been in this market for so long," Jjigo told journalists.
