National Unity Platform Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya has launched his campaign for Kampala Central, pledging to build a people-centered and accountable city.

The campaign launch took place on Tuesday in Kamwokya and attracted a large crowd of supporters, community leaders, and party members. The event marked the official start of Rubongoya’s bid to represent Kampala Central in Parliament.

Speaking to supporters, Rubongoya said his goal is to create a Kampala that works for everyone, providing equal opportunities and fair treatment for all residents, regardless of social or economic status.

He outlined a policy agenda focused on service delivery and economic empowerment. Key priorities included, Fair taxation to support small businesses, Improved education facilities, Better healthcare services,Upgraded roads and infrastructure,Programs to promote sports and youth development

Rubongoya also pledged to expand access to technology and the internet, improve garbage management and drainage systems, support low-cost housing projects, and promote a safe night economy benefiting both workers and business owners.

Transparency and accountability will be central to his leadership. Rubongoya emphasised that public resources must serve citizens, not individuals in power.

He urged Ugandans to support leaders who serve the people, stressing that meaningful change can only come when leaders are genuinely committed to citizens’ needs.

Residents at the launch welcomed his message, noting it reflects the daily struggles of Kampala, including poor service delivery and corruption.

If elected, Rubongoya said he will focus on inclusive growth, equitable development, and efficient service delivery, ensuring opportunities reach every household in Kampala.
