Roofings Group Uganda has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting local manufacturing, job creation, and high-quality infrastructure development under the “Buy Uganda, Build Uganda” (BUBU) initiative.
Speaking during NBS Breakfast Meeting on Wednesday, the Corporate Affairs Manager at Roofings Group Uganda, Stuart Jason Mwesigwa, underscored the company’s pivotal role in transforming Uganda’s industrial landscape.
“In the past, Ugandans used to look for products from other countries, but today, when it comes to infrastructure development, you can access all these materials right here in Uganda. Made in Uganda, by Ugandans, for Ugandans — BUBU is something to be proud of,” Mwesigwa said.
Roofings Group, a household name in steel and plastic manufacturing, continues to set the standard for quality and reliability. Mwesigwa emphasised that quality remains the company’s top priority, backed by advanced technology, rigorous quality control systems, and a team of highly qualified professionals.
“We do not compromise on quality control. We have the best technology and a team of qualified staff. We also engage directly with contractors and engineers to agree on specific requirements. Should there be a need for a particular product, we can produce it — for example, coloured sheets or customised iron bars cut and bent to match client drawings,” he said.
With over 2,000 people employed directly and thousands more benefiting indirectly through partnerships with transporters, fabricators, and dealers nationwide, Roofings Group continues to contribute significantly to Uganda’s economic development and industrial growth.
“We employ over 2,000 people directly, and many more indirectly — including transporters, fabricators, and our dealers across different regions,” Mwesigwa said.
Roofings Group products have been integral to some of Uganda’s most iconic infrastructure projects, including Kabalega International Airport, Hoima Stadium, the Jinja Nile Bridge, Entebbe International Airport, and the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway.
“When you look at the infrastructure projects successfully completed using our products, we take great pride in our contribution. We encourage Ugandans to embrace Roofings’ quality steel and plastic products in their developments,” Mwesigwa said.
