The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has called on Kabaka’s subjects to remain united and avoid divisions during the ongoing political season, emphasizing that politics is temporary while social harmony and brotherhood are enduring.
Delivering the message through the Deputy Speaker of Buganda Parliament, Ahmed Lwasa, Mayiga commended the people of Bulemeezi County for contributing over Shs23 million toward Buganda’s development initiatives at Bulange, Mengo.
He urged the community not to let political differences cause disunity.
“You should not chase away or reject your neighbor because of political differences. After the elections, you will still live together and depend on one another,” he said.
Mayiga encouraged Kabaka’s subjects to promote peace and avoid actions that could lead to violence or instability. He highlighted that peaceful communities are better positioned to attract investors, improve agricultural productivity—particularly in coffee farming—and protect harvests from theft.
The Katikkiro also praised the people of Bulemeezi for their consistent support of Buganda’s development through contributions, participation in the Masaza Cup football tournament, and other kingdom programs.
He urged the older generation to instill this patriotic spirit and love for Buganda in the youth to ensure continuity and progress.
The Kangawo of Bulemeezi, Prince Ronald Mulondo, who led the visiting delegation, advised communities to remain vigilant against the spread of HIV/Aiads and appealed to local leaders to actively protect the girl child, following the Kabaka’s guidance.
The Minister of State for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, Kyofatogabye Kabuye, who accompanied the delegation, thanked the Katikkiro for his unifying message and pledged, on behalf of Bulemeezi’s political leaders, to cooperate with county leadership and support all kingdom initiatives.
The delegation included representatives from several sub-counties—Wabusaana, Bamunanika, Kikamulo, and Kamira—and Members of Parliament such as Kyofatogabye Kabuye and Bamunanika Constituency’s Robert Ssekitoleko, alongside other dignitaries from Bulemeezi County.
