Africa’s top strategy professionals, policymakers, and business leaders convened at the IASP Africa Regional Conference 2025 in Kampala with an aim to foster strategic alignment, digital innovation, and inclusive growth to drive the continent’s long-term development.
The conference, hosted by the Uganda and Nigerian chapters, was held under the theme “Shaping Africa’s Future Through Strategies for Inclusive Growth, Digital Transformation, and Sustainable Development.” The two-day gathering brought together delegates from across Africa to exchange ideas, frameworks, and practical approaches for building resilient, future-ready economies.
In his opening remarks, Innocent Agaba, the IASP Uganda Chapter President, highlighted Africa’s immense potential. He said,
“However much Africa’s potential is immense, we must become intentional about strategy — aligning our policies, business priorities, and innovation efforts to build the Africa we want. That is why gatherings such as this are vital.”
He added that strategy professionals act as the critical link between ambition and execution, noting:
“In the public sector, we ensure that high-level plans like Uganda’s National Development Plan (NDP IV) move to measurable performance by building supportive cultures, aligning resources, and creating systems to monitor progress.”
Participants unpacked how deliberate strategy can drive transformation in key areas — Inclusive Growth, ensuring that economic advancement benefits all citizens, particularly youth and women, through equitable access to opportunities; Digital Transformation, leveraging technology, AI, and innovation to improve efficiency, competitiveness, and service delivery; and Sustainability, embedding environmental and governance principles into national and corporate strategies to achieve long-term stability.
In his televised remarks, Dr. Samuel Aikhuomogbe, President of the IASP Nigeria Chapter, commended the conference for strengthening collaboration among African strategists and creating a unified front for continental progress.
“Africa is at a turning point. We must move beyond short-term fixes to long-term strategic thinking that connects our nations, economies, and institutions. The conversations in Kampala have set a strong foundation for that transformation,” he said.
He further emphasized the importance of knowledge sharing and capacity building across Africa, noting that IASP’s growing network of professionals provides a unique platform for collective learning and execution excellence.
The conference featured high-level panels, keynote presentations, and real-world case studies that demonstrated how strategic thinking can transform both public and private sector performance. Participants explored the role of artificial intelligence, sustainability, and data-driven planning in enhancing competitiveness and optimizing resources across industries.
