The retired Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, has urged Ugandans to remain steadfast in faith and service to God, reminding Christians that the blessings they enjoy are rooted in their relationship with Him.
Bishop Luwalira made the remarks while officiating at a fundraising drive at King’s College Budo, organized to raise funds for the construction of a new school chapel.
The event attracted hundreds of students, alumni, parents, and well-wishers from across the country.
“Some of us are who we are today because of God’s blessings. We must therefore be careful and faithful when doing His work, knowing that every effort we make should glorify Him,” Bishop Luwalira said.
He commended King’s College Budo for maintaining its Christian heritage and for continuing to nurture students both spiritually and academically.
The school’s Headmaster, Mr John Fred Kazibwe, revealed that the current chapel, built in 1950, can no longer accommodate the growing student population.
He said the school plans to construct a modern chapel with a seating capacity of over 2,000 students.
“The current chapel served its purpose for decades, but with our increasing enrollment, it is too small. We are now moving forward with plans to build a modern chapel that will meet our community’s needs,” Kazibwe explained.
At the event, the school raised Shs888,257,575 in cash and pledges toward the chapel project — Shs705,932,575 in cash and Shs182,325,000 in pledges to be fulfilled later.
School authorities and the organizing committee expressed deep appreciation to all contributors for their generosity and dedication to preserving the institution’s spiritual and moral legacy.
The new chapel, once completed, is expected to become a spiritual landmark for King’s College Budo — symbolizing unity, faith, and continuity of the school’s strong Christian foundation.
