Leading the delegation to UCU was Rt Rev Prof Alfred Olwa, bishop of the Diocese of Lango and Principal of the GAFCON Bishops’ Training Program.

Bishop Olwa emphasized the value of continuous formation and mentorship among bishops.

"There is no school for bishops. This movement provides a space for bishops to grow together through fellowship, discipleship, and shared experiences so they can serve the Church faithfully," he said.

The UCU community warmly welcomed the GAFCON leaders. Vice Chancellor Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi expressed gratitude for the visit.

"What a joy it is to receive bishops and archbishops from the Global Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans. We are deeply honored and grateful to share in this moment of worship and fellowship," he said.

The preacher for the day was The Most Rev. Justin Badi Arama, Chair of GAFCON and Archbishop of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan.

In a sermon, Archbishop Badi Arama encouraged bishops to remain steadfast in their calling and to guard the gospel amid the challenges of contemporary ministry.

"Guard the gospel with strength and courage. The Church must stand firm on the Word of God and lead God’s mission with conviction and compassion," he said.

The service concluded with prayer and thanksgiving, marking a significant moment of unity and encouragement for both UCU and the global Anglican community.

The visit highlighted UCU’s longstanding partnership with the Anglican Communion and its commitment to nurturing Christian leadership across Africa.
