Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gen. Jeje Odongo Abubakhar held a productive meeting with Nounke Kaba, Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea, on the sidelines of the ongoing Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Midterm Ministerial Meeting in Kampala on Thursday aimed at reinforcing bilateral relations and advancing shared continental priorities.

During the meeting, Odongo emphasised the importance of African unity, empowerment, and strategic partnerships as essential pillars for the continent’s socio-economic transformation.

He reiterated Uganda’s commitment to working closely with fellow African nations to promote sustainable development, peace, and regional integration.

“Africa’s strength lies in our unity and shared vision for progress,” Odongo said.

“Through deeper collaboration and mutual support, we can collectively drive the continent toward self-reliance and prosperity.”

Kaba commended Uganda’s leadership role within the Non-Aligned Movement and reaffirmed Guinea’s commitment to continued cooperation grounded in mutual respect, solidarity, and shared developmental goals.

“Guinea deeply values its friendship with Uganda. We look forward to expanding our cooperation in areas that will benefit our peoples and strengthen the bonds that unite our nations,” he said.

The meeting underscored the two countries’ common vision of promoting African-led solutions to the continent’s challenges and advancing joint initiatives in diplomacy, trade, and capacity-building.

Both leaders expressed optimism that enhanced collaboration between Uganda and Guinea will contribute significantly to continental unity and the success of the NAM’s principles of independence, peace, and equality.

This week’s Midterm Review Meeting is expected to build on those achievements, with discussions focused on peace building, technology transfer, trade facilitation, and climate resilience.

Founded in 1961 in Belgrade by visionary leaders including Jawaharlal Nehru (India), Josip Broz Tito (Yugoslavia), Gamal Abdel Nasser (Egypt), Sukarno (Indonesia), and Kwame Nkrumah (Ghana), the Non-Aligned Movement remains committed to promoting peace, sovereignty, and cooperation among developing nations while maintaining independence from power blocs.
