Former ZANU–PF Central Committee member, Cde Blessed Geza, is leading a nationwide demonstration dubbed the “One Million Man March,” scheduled for October 17, 2025.

Organized under the banner All Citizens Protest, the event is being described as a united citizens’ response to what organizers call escalating corruption, economic mismanagement, and state capture.

The march aims to draw attention to governance failures while demanding transparency and accountability from national leaders.

Zimbabweans from across the country are being mobilized to participate, with each town and city expected to converge and march in solidarity.

According to a statement from the organizers led by Cde Geza, the protest is “a call to all Zimbabweans to join hands in the fight against corruption and the abuse of public institutions.”

Participants in Harare will gather at 8am at Robert Mugabe Square, while those in Bulawayo and the Matabeleland region are expected to assemble at the Dr Joshua Nkomo Statue in the city centre.

The slogan “Standing together for a Zimbabwe free from corruption and state capture” underscores the movement’s commitment to restoring integrity in public service and promoting equal opportunities for all citizens.

Civic leaders and activists have called for peaceful participation, stressing that the event is non-partisan and represents the collective voice of ordinary Zimbabweans demanding ethical leadership and economic justice.

As the date approaches, the march has already sparked wide discussion across social media platforms, with hashtags such as #OneMillionManMarch and #EndCorruptionZW trending as citizens call for reform.

However, some observers remain skeptical, recalling previous planned protests that ended as stay-away events.

Many citizens have adopted a wait-and-see attitude toward the upcoming demonstration.

It is important to note that Zimbabweans are generally peaceful people. The last major successful march was in 2017, when citizens—supported by the military—took to the streets, leading to the resignation of the late former president Robert Gabriel Mugabe.

Zimbabwe’s main opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa, has unequivocally stated that he will not support any action resembling the events of 2017, saying he learned his lesson from what transpired during and after the coup.

While many view the One Million Man March as a positive step toward civic action, others have raised concerns that Cde Geza may be using the movement for personal political gain.

In response, the Movement for Economic Freedom Youth League issued a stern warning to the protesters, vowing that “patriotic citizens will launch citizen arrests” against participants.

“Violence and lawlessness have no place in Zimbabwe’s progress. Our message is simple: no to violence,” said the Youth League leader, Cde Agripa Gutu.

If successful, the One Million Man March could become a defining moment in Zimbabwe’s ongoing struggle for democratic accountability, transparency, and social justice. For now, the nation watches closely—hopeful, cautious, and expectant.
