Archbishop Kaziimba Urges Integrity, Stewardship at COU Workshop
Leaders must be readers! Equip yourselves with knowledge from the Bible, books, and global trends to remain relevant and effective

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, on Wednesday morning officially opened a four-day Capacity Building and Training Workshop for the Church of Uganda’s Directorate of Household and Community Transformation (HCT) Diocesan Coordinators at Lweza Training and Conference Centre.

In his keynote address, Kaziimba reminded participants that their ministry must go beyond development projects to embrace integrity, faithfulness, and strategic positioning in service, citing Proverbs 22:1: “A good name is more desirable than great riches.”

The Archbishop urged diocesan coordinators to prioritize environmental stewardship, encouraging tree planting at baptisms and confirmations, promoting sustainable farming practices, and leaving behind a greener, more sustainable future for generations to come.

He further stressed the importance of continuous learning for effective leadership

“Leaders must be readers! Equip yourselves with knowledge from the Bible, books, and global trends to remain relevant and effective,” he said.

Referencing 1 Corinthians 6:19, Archbishop Kaziimba reminded coordinators that their bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and must be safeguarded through healthy living and physical exercise.

As Uganda approaches a political season, he also cautioned church leaders against partisan politics, urging them instead to engage in civic education, peacebuilding, and promoting Kingdom values.

Highlighting the vision of the HCT Directorate, Kaziimba emphasized that true development must be rooted in values.

“Development without values is empty. Our call is holistic transformation eradicating poverty, empowering households, and ensuring our people have food, dignity, and hope, so the Gospel may be received with open hearts.”

He encouraged coordinators to remain faithful stewards, striving for excellence and Kingdom impact.

The Archbishop warmly welcomed international partners who attended the workshop, including representatives from Life International – Kurt Dillinger (President and Founder) and Steve Biondo (Chief Advancement Officer) – as well as Crown Ministries International, represented by President and Founder Chuck Bentley.

“These friends have purposely traveled to be here with us to share in the transformation work the Church of Uganda is doing, and God willing, to partner with us in building resilient and sustainable community development programs,” Kaziimba said.

Kaziimba further expressed gratitude to the Provincial Secretary, the Director for Household and Community Transformation Rev. Andrew Agaba, and the entire organizing team for coordinating the workshop.

He prayed for God’s anointing upon the facilitators to lead with clarity and wisdom throughout the training.

The HCT is a key arm of the Church of Uganda that equips dioceses to promote holistic development, strengthen household resilience, and foster community transformation rooted in Christian values.
