Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has met hundreds of NRM delegates from Busoga sub-region at her home in Buyende, seeking their backing for the position of 2nd Vice Chairperson, Female, in the party’s top leadership.
The gathering formed part of her campaign trail for the influential role.
During the meeting, Among addressed the issue of foreign sanctions imposed on her, attributing them to the anti-homosexuality bill passed by Parliament rather than to corruption allegations made by her opponent, Rebecca Kadaga.
She also highlighted her generosity and support for various initiatives, revealing that she has a special donation budget for such causes.
“I’m bringing new energy on mobilisation in NRM,” Among told delegates, adding that if elected, she would use her experience and influence to promote the party’s agenda and interests.
The NRM delegates from Busoga pledged to support her bid, citing her leadership qualities and dedication to the party’s principles — a significant endorsement given the region’s influence in the party’s internal elections.
With the NRM national delegates conference approaching, Among’s campaign appears to be gaining momentum.
Her message of new energy, coupled with her track record, is resonating with delegates seeking effective leadership, positioning her candidacy to play a key role in shaping the party’s future direction.
