Presidential aspirant Ivan Kisaakye has urged Ugandans to embrace unity and support regional integration efforts, saying togetherness is essential for national development and effective leadership.
Kisaakye made the call while speaking at a public event linked to a regional bicycle ride campaign promoting fitness, cultural exchange, and East African solidarity.
The event, part of a 60-day cycling tour across East African countries, drew participants from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda.
“The bicycle is our symbol. It stands for togetherness and African community. That’s what we are preaching unity in us,” said Kisaakye, who recently announced his candidacy for Uganda’s 2026 general elections.
The aspiring leader said his team was invited to participate in the event after organizers learned that the bicycle is the official emblem of his political movement. He appeared at the event alongside his Secretary General, James Sserumaga.
Kisaakye introduced himself to the crowd as the “son of the beautiful woman, Princess Harry of Uganda,” and expressed full support for the East African Community (EAC), describing it as a model for regional cooperation.
“You cannot be a president of Uganda when you don’t have unity amongst us. You must partner with other countries in East Africa,” he said. “We cannot preach enmity rather, we preach togetherness.”
He reiterated his campaign slogan “One team, one dream,” urging Ugandans to support initiatives that promote unity, health, and cross-border collaboration.
Although he remains largely unknown in Uganda’s mainstream political circles, Kisaakye joins a growing list of young and independent contenders eyeing the presidency in the upcoming elections.
