UPC Spokesperson Sharon Arach Oyat urged party members and the general public to prepare for the two-day electoral exercise. Primaries for Members of Parliament, LCV Chairpersons, City Mayors, City Division Mayors, and Municipal Mayors will be held on August 16, while those for District Councillors, City Division Councillors, Municipal/Division Councillors, Sub County/Division Chairpersons, and Sub County Councillors will take place on August 18.
“In accordance with Executive Order No. 001/2025 of UPC President Hon. Jimmy Akena, village branch executives have been included in the parish, sub-county, constituency, and district executives as voters for purposes of electing party flag bearers,” Oyat stated.
The Party Electoral Commission (PEC) has revealed that some candidates are running unopposed.
Oyat said the PEC will officially announce these candidates at an appropriate time.
UPC called for calm in areas where primaries will be contested and assured all aspirants of a fair process.
“We want to assure all aspiring candidates that the party primaries will be peaceful, transparent, free, and fair,” Oyat emphasised.
