The Chief Administrative Officers for districts that will not perform according to required standard this finance year risk being sacked; the government has said.

This announcement was made at the release of the 2017/2018 government annual Review report that saw Mpigi top the list of best performers followed closely by Namutumba District.

Other disitricts that performed exceptionally well include; Busia,  Rubirizi, Ibanda  Bukwo and Jinja.

The release was presided over by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the office of the Prime Minister

Arua and Nakapiripirit remained worst performing according to the report released by Minister for Karamoja Affairs John Byabagambi.

The minister announced that during this financial year, districts that do not perform well shall have their chief administrative officers sacked.

“We shall cut budgets of these districts and also recommend sacking of all the CAOs.”

The performance of municipal councils saw Jinja top the list followed closely by Entebbe, Mbarara, Sheema, Busia, Kapchworwa and Mukono.

Nebbi, Njeru,Kabale, Kisoro, Ntungamo, Rukungiri and Tororo on the other hand provided the worst results.

The report findings focused on 7 functional areas including; Production and marketing, health, education, roads and engineering, water and sanitation, Community based services and Natural resources

“There is high release and absorption for both districts and municipal councils but low output performance only at 36% of the annual targets.”

President Yoweri Museveni has however advised that districts adopt industrialized agriculture if the country is to prosper.

The president insists that the country needs to focus on four sectors including commercial agriculture, industry, services and ICT.

The president has tasked the ministry of finance to study the economy of countries like Germany and China if the country is to progress.
