The State Minister in charge of the Office of the Vice President Diana Mutasingwa had paid a courtesy visit to Bishop Christopher Kakooza, the Bishop of Lugazi Diocese, and Bishop Emeritus Mathias Ssekamaanya.
The Minister was deeply impressed by the bishops' wisdom and dedication to their faith, acknowledging the significant role the Church plays in shaping communities.
"Their wisdom and dedication to the faith was very impactful," the Minister said. "We reflected on the tremendous role the Church continues to play in shaping our communities."
This year, the Diocese of Lugazi has been entrusted with leading the Uganda Martyrs Day celebrations at Namugongo, a responsibility the Minister says is not taken lightly.
"We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our bishops and the entire diocese for their leadership and dedication," the Minister expressed.
"May the preparations be fruitful, and may this year's celebrations strengthen our faith as a nation."
The Uganda Martyrs Day celebrations are a significant event in the country, honoring the 22 Catholic martyrs and saints of Uganda who were martyred between 1885 and 1887.
The event attracts millions of pilgrims from within Uganda, the East African community, and other parts of the world.
