Nyanzi reappears after days of being missing

The chief mobilizer for the National Unity Platform (NUP), Fred Nyanzi has finally reappeared after being missing for several days.

Nyanzi, who is also the brother of NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi, known as Bobi Wine, was reported missing on Monday evening.

After days of searching by his family and NUP members, Kyagulanyi confirmed on Friday that Nyanzi had been located near his home.

However, Kyagulanyi alleged that Nyanzi had been subjected to torture by the Crime Intelligence during his disappearance, a claim that has yet to be verified.

"After four days of incommunicado detention and torture, our head of mobilisation Chairman Nyanzi Fred has been driven from CMI torture chambers and dumped near his home! Thank you all for raising your voices." Kyagulanyi posted on X (formerly Twitter).

This week, NUP reported that several of its officials had gone missing under mysterious circumstances.

Among them were four senior Electoral Commission officials who, according to the party, were abducted by individuals in both military and civilian clothing on Tuesday.

This week, NUP Secretary-General, Lewis Rubongoya, stated that many party members, notably "foot soldiers", were living in fear, adding that some were still missing.
