VIDEO: Mixed reactions in parliament over report on ‘Tortured’ MPs

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah will on Wednesday rule on whether its procedurally right for the Adhoc- committee to present to the House its findings on the alleged torture of legislators.

This comes in the wake of a warning by Members of Parliament of repercussions of militarising Ugandan politics saying it’s more likely to cause more harm than revitalise the practice of good governance and democracy.

The long awaited Tuesday Parliamentary sitting, first saw the Minister for security General Elly Tumwiine present a continuation of a joint ministerial Statement on the state of security in the Country.

The Minister then weighed in on the destabilizing spate of demonstrations, vowing to subdue them

The legislators responded with mixed voices

It wasn’t the only spur of voices. Legislators were also split on whether the Adhoc committee appointed by the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga to investigate the alleged torture of members of Parliament in Arua be granted an opportunity to present their findings.

Parliament resumes on Wednesday with the Speaker Jacob Oulanyah giving his ruling on the status of the Adhoc Committee report.

Still in parliament, Mbale woman legislator Connie Galiwango has made her fears known to parliament on alleged attempts to assassinate her
