Speaking as the guest of honor, the Bishop of Central Busoga Diocese, Rev. Patrick Wakula, urged married couples to desist from using Biblical verses about Old Testament kings’ polygamous marriages.

He encouraged them to instead preserve their love for their families and mentor children toward proper family unions that would restore faith in the institution of marriage, which is currently under threat from breakups and a lack of mutual respect.

“There is no way you can be respected in your family if you have more than one wife with different children, even if you give them whatever it takes to grow well,” he said.

“Even to our Muslim brothers, their Quran is very clear. For those interested in having more than one wife, the Quran tasks them to give equal love, which is impossible due to the different characters of women,” the bishop added.

The Chief Magistrate of Iganga, Daniel Epobu Kiboko, commended Musinga for his efforts in the fight against cattle theft. Over the past few weeks, reports of stolen livestock had flooded local police stations, with many residents in rural areas facing significant losses.
