Nabbanja wins African female leader of the year award

The African Leadership Magazine has recognised Uganda's Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja as the winner of African Female Leader of the Year 2024 award.

This was announced on Monday as the magazine announced the African Persons of the Year 2024.

"Congratulations to Her Excellency Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja Prime Minister, of Uganda , for being named Winner, African Female Leader of the Year 2024," the organisation announced.

Nabbanja's category included; Antoinette Sayeh, the former deputy managing director of International Monetary Fund, Hellen Oritsejafor, a Nigerian philanthropist and businesswoman, and Patrician Obo-Nai, the CEO of Terecel Ghana.

The winners were Sequel to an extensive three-step selection process; public nominations, screening and shortlisting by the editorial board, and a highly competitive online poll that closed at midnight (CAT) on Thursday, December 12, 2024.

Upon being announced winner, Nabbanja took to X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate the good news.

"Many thanks to you dependable friends for your vote in the online Poll conducted globally. I have been declared as a winner under the African Female leaders category and therefore among the African Leaders of the year 2024 as indicated below. Thank you for the trust. A luta Continua!" she stated.

*Minister Aceng, Dr Bassajabalaba among winners*

Meanwhile, the Minister of Health Ruth Aceng was named the African Public Health Champion of the Year 2024.

Ugandan businessman Hassan Dr. Bassajabalaba Hassan, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Kampala International University (KIU) was named the African Educationist of the Year 2024.

Ken Giami, Publisher of African Leadership Magazine, commended the winners for their remarkable contributions.

“They represent a force for good on the continent, and we are proud to stand with them at this time in our history.” she stated.

The winners will receive the award trophies during the 14th Annual African Leadership Magazine Persons of the Year Awards Ceremony, billed 27–28 February 2025, in Casablanca, Morocco.
