The Parliament of Uganda has issued a travel advisory, warning nationals against travel to several countries due to escalating security threats.

The advisory, released by Nkunyingi Muwada, Shadow Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasises the need for caution as global tensions rise.

The advisory highlights five key regions, with Lebanon flagged as the most critical.

“I advise against travel to Lebanon and if in Lebanon I encourage you to leave when commercial travel options are still available. The security situation remains unpredictable,” Muwada stated.

In addition to Lebanon, the advisory calls for reconsideration of travel to Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, citing a volatile security situation.

Ugandan nationals are also urged to be cautious in South Sudan, where there is an “increased threat of violence and armed conflict.”

The document further notes that travel by road in South Sudan has become increasingly risky.

The advisory also addresses the ongoing conflicts in Sudan and Ukraine.

“The ongoing conflict has posed a risk with possibilities of eventualities daily. Verify the security condition of your destined region before travel,” warned Muwada.

He emphasized that Ugandans living in these regions should stay informed through local and international media and adhere to safety guidance from authorities.
