Amb Kakonge roots for diaspora–American partnership: will it help?

Ambassador Kakonge underscored the importance of forging strong partnerships with American entities and the Ugandan Diaspora.

WASHINGTON, DC | Speaking to Nile Post Exclusively at the UNAA convention in Washington, Robie Kakonge, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uganda to the United States, emphasised the government's commitment to driving commercial development across agriculture, mineral resources, tourism, and science and technology.

In her remarks, Ambassador Kakonge underscored the importance of forging strong partnerships with American entities and the Ugandan diaspora.

He highlighted the government's strategic focus on seeking collaborations that will accelerate economic and commercial development.

“The government is deeply vested in fostering partnerships with American businesses and investors. However, we also recognise that our Diaspora plays a crucial role in our development.

Home is where the heart is, and we are actively seeking opportunities to engage with Ugandans abroad to invest back home,” Kakonge said.

The ambassador commended the diaspora community for their significant contributions, particularly in the education and health sectors.

He called on Ugandans living abroad to continue their support and consider investing in various development projects within Uganda.

Kakonge revealed that the economic and commercial development team is actively pursuing partnerships to boost key sectors.

“We are committed to enhancing our agricultural productivity, mineral resource management, tourism industry, and advancing science and technology. These areas are vital for Uganda’s growth and prosperity,” he added.

The ambassador’s remarks reflect Uganda's broader strategy to leverage both domestic and international resources to drive national development and ensure sustainable economic growth.
