All leaders should be investigated if accused of corruprion” Minister Otafiire

The Internal Affairs Minister Maj.General(RTD) Kahinda Otafiire has urged all government officials and leaders to allow the authorities investigate them if they are questioned as way of combating corruption in the country.

Otafiire noted some officials and the public rely on intimidation, black mail and falsehood to spread malicious information without following clear procedures to reveal the truth.

The Minister emphasized that in this current situation of looming corruption cases.

“All leaders in this country should be investigated and exonerated if accused of corruption but let’s follow all procedures. If someone is accused provide the evidence to the concerned authorities to take up the case” Otafiire stated.

Otafiire made remarks While presiding over the pass out and graduation of Top Police Officers in the Uganda Prisons Services and Uganda Police force at the Police Senior Command and Staff College in Bwebajja-Entebbe.

He challenged graduates to focus on training to maintain the institution's goals and gain more skills.

“Please always report to the responsible offices as senior Police Officers, have respect and morals. I don’t expect again to see officers calling me and reporting to me yet there’s the office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), regional officers and District officers among others” Otafiire noted.

The ceremony was also attended by other high-level security officers including the Inspector General of Police, Abbas Byakagaba, Director of Forensic Services, ACP Andrew Mubiru, Samuel Akena, Deputy Commissioner General of Prisons and among others

The Graduates were conferred with PhDs, Masters degrees in peace and conflict studies, strategic security studies, and diplomacy and global studies from Makerere and Nkumba University.

IGP Abbas Byakagaba also urged officers to take their roles seriously, work diligently, and make collective efforts to drive success and innovation in policing.

“You are now like family forever, take advantage of this to support one another in the fight against criminality” Byakagaba highlighted.

He added, “use your skills to improve Policing and contribute to the transformation of the Uganda Police Force”
