Wilfred Nsubuga a statistician with the Commission of inquiry, who was arrested on Thursday last week has been remanded to prison until Thursday 26th July 2018 over illegal disclosure of information.
Grade one magistrate of the anti corruption court Fred Peter Lochom, remanded Nsubuga after he pleaded not guilty to three counts of abuse of office, corruption and unauthorised disclosure of information.
State alleges that between February and July 2018 at Kampala, while engaged as a statistician at the commission of inquiry into land matters charged with developing and managing the complaints database, Nsubuga abused his office by discussing confidential information with parties implicated with the aim of helping them have the matters resolved in their favor- an act that was prejudicial to his employer, the commission of Inquiry into land matters.
Nsubuga is said to have done this without authorization or court order instructing him to disclose the particular information to the complaints and third parties for their benefit and use, something that was different from the one for which he was authorized to have access to the data.
The act of disclosure has also been dubbed corruption on allegations that it was to the personal benefit of Nsubuga when he accessed the information by virtue of his position as a statistician charged with managing the complaints data base at the commission.
Thomas Okott the state attorney informed court that investigations are still ongoing, asking for an adjournment.
Nsubuga’s lawyer Bogezi Ronald will be returning to court on 26th July to file a bail application for the accused.
