Upon the announcement of Rev Jacob Ateirweho as the new bishop for Bunyoro Kitara diocese, the diocese appointed two committees to organise the consecration of the new bishop.

With just three meetings left to the d-day on August, 11,  the committees have reported to  Christians that they have only so far collected shs60 million of the needed shs 400m, asking stakeholders, including  government officials to join the cause so that they can have a colorful event.

"Imagine, we need shs 400m, and we have shs60m in our third meeting yet  are left with only three meetings. It is time those that pledged to donate to fulfill their pledges  We also ask other people to  support the work of God. We  need that money so that we can have an amazing consecration," Rev Eric  Twine said.

"Food is one of the items that has a big budget, so those that can't bring money  can bring us food like rice, Matooke, cassava, beans. Even those with goats and cows can bring as  this will see our budget being financed indirectly."

Jimex Nelson Businge, the organizing publicity secretary, said a lot of avenues are being thought of  including using social media and  main stream media  to rally believers to support, opening up on their plan to have a magazine through which  they will sell space for advertisement to boost their budget.

"We are using all means to reach out to people, social media has taken over, main stream we are there, but also we are thinking about a magazine,."

Businge says, they are also making posters, T-shirts stickers all aimed at raising money.

"What do we do then?  Christians are not bringing the money then what do we do? We  need to find all avenues irrespective TO  bring us money, but we are also welcoming support from government."

Rev Canon Jacob Ateirweho  will be consecrated on  Augus, 11, 2024 at St Peters Cathedral Duhaga Hoima, replacing  Rt Rev Samuel Kahuma.
