On Wednesday, Justice Margaret Mutonyi said the act of killing and burning bodies of women was unspeakable and alarmed the country.

“The act of murdering and burning women cannot be treated kindly by this court. There can never be a reason why kill another and it shows a perverted mind.  He knew exactly what he was doing. He never wanted the bodies to be identified but be treated as unidentified people. The baby didn't have a head, and other parts shows he intended to kill the deceased person,” she said.

"The constitution defines a serial killer as a murderer who kills people in a short time. The deceased were all his lovers apart from the baby. The ways and time of murdering the deceased were the same. He killed them with bare hands as he said in his statement. This kind of act calls for a severe sentence because this has become his habit of killing."

The judge consequently sentenced Musaasizi to 35 years imprisonment for  the murder of a woman and her child, 30 years for the murder of another woman and 40 years for the murder of another woman.

The sentences to run one after the other but the judge said the time spent on remand should be deducted on each of the sentence.

Justice Mutonyi said Musaasizi has the right to appeal in 14 days.
