Makerere probe on sexual harassment to allow anonymous complaints
A committee investigating into the sexual harassment cases at Makerere University has today recommended that the institutions policy should allow the filing of anonymous complaints according to a draft report.
The policy has been recommended following the fact the current Makerere University sexual harassment policy doesn't accommodate anonymous complaints.

In the report, the committee also recommended that in order to fight the habit of sex-for-marks a penalty be imposed on persons who are made aware of sexual harassment cases but take no action.
This is because in a number of cases the victims are well known to the staff members.
The Prof. Sylvia Tamale led committee also further rubbished the idea that poor dressing is the main cause of sexual harassment and disregarded the idea of students having a dress code the university.
The probe was launched by the university vice chancellor following the incidents of sexual harassment that marred the university which were revealed by the NBS TV.
