Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna has been consecrated and enthroned as the new Bishop of Kigezi Diocese replacing Rt Rev. Eng. George Bagamunda.
Akanjuna becomes the 6th Bishop of Kigezi Diocese.
Archbishop Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu of Church of Uganda was the main celebrant while Rt Rev George Turyasingura the Bishop of East Ruwenzori Diocese was the retreat leader and preacher.
Turyasingura called upon the new bishop to be a servant leader and minister to all God's people without any form of segregation.
In his remarks shortly after enthronement, Akanjuna said he will continue supporting the children, the mothers' unions, and the youth through a number of initiatives for better livelihood.
He said he will be a bishop for everyone, calling upon the support of the people in order to accomplish this.
"I want to thank the Lord and everyone who has made this consecration and enthronement a success. Our focus will be on evangelism as our Lord Jesus Christ taught us. I want to call upon everyone to come to join me in building the house of Jesus Christ," he said.
Akanjuna explained that during his leadership the main focus will also be put on education because it is important in the development and fighting poverty in a nation.
"We want to uplift the children's education by working together with different stakeholders and providing the Bishops scholarships. Household income is one of the things we will focus on," he noted.
