Singer Nasib Abdul alias Diamond Platinumz is under police custody for allegedly posting a video on social media containing explicit content contrary to the new Electronic and Postal Communication Act of Tanzania.

Diamond’s arrest was confirmed by the minister of information, arts culture and sports, Harrison Mwakyembe while speaking to members of parliament on Tuesday.

According to Tanzanian media outlet The Citizen, Mwakyembe was responding to a question from Ulanga Member of Parliament, Goodluck Mlinga, who sought to know, what the government was doing against people, who are misusing social media platforms.

"We haven't remained idle as you remember we passed Electronic and Postal Communication Act (EPOCA) regulations recently and for your information we have arrested a popular musician, Diamond, for posting indecent content on social media," he said.

The minister also revealed that police have been sent to arrest a female artiste, Nandi for allegedly leaking a sex tape.

He ministers cautioned Tanzanians to avoid using social media as an avenue for lewd content as the country has morals to uphold.
