ISBAT University city campus has obtained accreditation from the Uganda National Council for Higher Education.
This was communicated to the management of ISBAT from NCHE in a letter dated 8th July 2021.
The city campus facility is located on Conrad Plaza along Entebbe Road which is easily accessible to the public and the working class.
The university will roll out her highly skill packed industry-oriented diploma programs in ICT along with various professional development programs in association with global partners and academies such as VMWare Academy, EC-Council, RedHat Academy, Microsoft and many others.
The city campus will also be a UBTEB exam and coaching center for a couple of accredited certificate programs aiming at creating employment opportunities to UCE leavers.
ISBAT University’s hybrid blended learning platform was accredited by NCHE in 2018 and was implemented as a value addition to the brick-and-mortar education system by ensuring seamless resources available to the learners at the convenience of their time and location.
The University has been successfully able to implement a digitally proctored online exams during the lockdown, and therefore ISBAT University’s Virtual mode of academic delivery and assessment is seen at par with their peers in developed nations.
"We have utilised most of the main campus at its full capacity when the staggered opening of the campus was done, and therefore we felt the importance of expanding with a view to facilitate all our students and future students in a safe atmosphere, with complete adherence to the Covid-19 protocol. Therefore, we resorted to expand and open the City Campus at an easily accessible location," said the Vice Chancellor Dr. K. M. Mathew.
The university recently announced Masters programmes in Public Health (MPH) with specific focus on Public Health Administration, Epidemiology and Biostatistics and Health Informatics.
Meanwhile in another development, Aptech Computer Education, a tertiary institution which was established in the year 2000 decided to close the operations following a decision by the board which was passed by its governing body.
The decision was endorsed by the NCHE after the due process was completed. Aptech was the premier institution established at a time when Uganda was in dire need of IT skills and IT professionals.
The founder Varghese Mundamattam, a former World Bank Advisor attached to Uganda opened the institution at a time of dire need, and over the period of the last over two decades, the institution offered best services to Ugandans as we see several of them are placed in highly paid positions in Uganda and abroad.
"The operation of Aptech was not making any economic sense for the last over two years, and was heavily dependent on promoters financial support, and moreover, a strategic decision had to be taken to sustain our best services to the country and the stakeholders felt that the best option is to extend our university (ISBAT University) services that could deliver better quality in a more affordable manner by consolidating our solid academic and technical capacities," said Mundamattam.
