CRIME | Phionah Namyalo was seconds from stepping into Bethel Parents High School, Bulenga, when her life was cut short by an errant motorist.

Namywalo, 16, was on Monday walking on the pavement, which the errant had found most convenient to drive on.

The driver of the Mitsubishi Canter UBG 013T is on the run, Police say.

Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire attributed the cause of the crash to reckless driving.

It is common practice for some motorists in the country to drive on pavements, especially during rush hours when traffic congestion is at the peak.
