Uganda’s cultural tourism scene is taking a digital leap forward with the launch of Tusangaire, a tourism platform that connects travellers to authentic cultural experiences and local communities. The Tusangaire mobile app redefines travel by offering immersive, human-centred encounters that go beyond sightseeing, giving users a chance to truly live Uganda’s culture.
Many travellers visit destinations without truly experiencing the local way of life. Tusangaire bridges that gap by curating activities that bring culture closer to the traveller, from learning traditional crafts and cooking local dishes to attending vibrant community festivals or exploring hidden natural gems. Through the app, users can easily browse, book, and manage these experiences directly from their smartphones.
"Tusangaire was born from my struggle to keep my children connected to their Ugandan roots while we moved between countries. Finding authentic, immersive experiences was a constant challenge, so I founded Tusangaire to help families and travellers from everywhere discover the fullness of Ugandan culture: its food, art, music, stories, and traditions. Travel should be more than visiting landmarks; it should be about connecting with people and immersing yourself in their world." — Josses Mugabi, Founder of Tusangaire
By providing a platform where local hosts can showcase their traditions, art, and experiences, Tusangaire promotes community-based tourism and ensures that every booking contributes to livelihoods across Uganda.
One of our partners featured on the platform, Aisha Nabwanika, Chief Executive Officer-Ewaffe Cultural Village, shared, “Having our cultural Experience listed on the
Tusangaire platform has enabled us to have more visibility, and I am happy to announce that two Europe-based tourist groups have booked us through the platform. The online visibility is immense.”
The app is designed to make cultural discovery effortless. Travellers can explore categories such as Art & Craft, Food & Culinary Experiences, Heritage, Homestays, and Sports, and connect directly with hosts. Each listing is carefully vetted to ensure authenticity and cultural value.
Tusangaire also aims to boost sustainable tourism by encouraging responsible travel, one that respects people, culture, and the environment. With Uganda emerging as one of East Africa’s fastest-growing travel destinations, the platform positions itself as a bridge between curious travellers and the country’s vibrant communities.
“The name, Tusangaire, means ‘You’re welcome’, and that’s what this is all about,” Mugabi added. “An open invitation to join us on a mission to enrich lives, celebrate culture, and unite communities through tourism.”
The Tusangaire App is now available for download on Google Play and the App Store. Travellers are invited to explore, connect, and experience Uganda like never before.
Tusangaire is a tourism platform dedicated to promoting authentic Ugandan cultural experiences. By connecting travellers with local communities and curated cultural activities, Tusangaire helps users go beyond sightseeing, fostering genuine connection, cultural appreciation, and sustainable tourism.
