FOOTBALL | Kataka clinched a hard-fought 1-0 victory against the Young Elephants at the Mbale Municipal Stadium to go second in the Fufa Big League table standings.

Latif Senkubuge netted the decisive goal late in the first half. This crucial victory bolsters Kataka's hopes of promotion to the StarTimes Premier League.

In his post-match reflection, Young Elephants coach Morgan Chansly acknowledged the team's commitment and determination.

"We tried our best and we hoped to stick to our plan of getting at least a point but football is not a theory, it is a practical thing," Chansly said.

Despite dominating for large spell and creating several opportunities, the Young Elephants struggled to convert chances into goals, a fact that Chansly candidly acknowledged.

"We played well and dominated the game but we wasted our chances, and our opponents utilised theirs," he said.

"This season has not been our season. We have tried our best in every level but luck was not on our side."

While maintaining a resilient spirit, he also acknowledged the mounting challenges facing the team.

"I am not giving up but from the look of things, you can see that things are coming to impossibility," he admitted.

Kataka coach Kawachang Toldo said it was a hard-earned victory due to the formidable nature of the opposition.

With six games remaining in the season, Kataka next faces Jinga North before they host Kaaro-Karungi.
