The Police Interpol directorate has made changes in the design and appearance of its certificate of good conduct in a bid to limit forgeries.
Certificates of hood conduct are a must for individuals seeking employment abroad.
However,according to InterPol spokesperson, Vincent Ssekate, the previous certificate had been easily forged by individuals.
"The new one has a number of unique features including a bar code that make it difficult to forge but also differentiate it from a forged one,"Ssekate said.
He noted that issuance of the newly designed certificate started in May.
The certificate of good conduct issued by Interpol Uganda is signed only by the Director of Interpol unlike the old one which could be signed by any police officer.
Its issuance also helps police raise revenue from those applying for it especially those going abroad for work, those seeking employment with companies and NGOs.
The InterPol certificate of good conduct costs Shs 64000 and according to Ssekate, police collected over Shs 2 billion last year from individuals who applied and obtained the certificate.
