President Museveni on Saturday evening made changes in his cabinet, dropping some ministers as well as elevating others.
The Nile Post looks at those who have achieved and those who have lost out in the new changes.
Achievers
The former Chief of Defence Forces, Gen.Katumba Wamala who has been the State Minister for Works has been elevated to become the cabinet Minister for Works and Transport to replace Monica Ntege Azuba.
Mary Kitutu, who has been the State Minister for the Environment has now been appointed as Minister for Energy and Ministers to replace Eng.Irene Muloni whereas Judith Nabakooba, the former Police spokesperson has for the first time been appointed as a minister( for Information, ICT and Communications).
Others are Molly Kamukama who is now the State Minister for Economic Monitoring whereas Raphael Magyezi has been appointed the Minister for Local Government and Beatrice Anywar, the Kitgum Municipality MP has eaten big as new Minister of state for Environment.
Losers
A number of Ministers have also been dropped by President Museveni in the latest changes in his cabinet.
Ministers including Janat Mukwaya,( Gender, Labour and Social Development), Abdul Nadduli(without portfolio), Irene Muloni(Energy and Mineral Development), Eng. Monica Ntege Azuba(Works and Transport) and Alex Onzima(State Minister in the Office of the Vice President ) have all been appointed senior presidential advisers.
In the latest changes, Museveni has also dropped other Ministers without placing them anywhere and these include Aidah Nantaba(State Minister for ICT and Communication) and Charles Bakkabulindi(State Minister for Sports ).
The latest changes in Museveni’s cabinet have come after a long period of over three years without the president making any changes but also come at a time when he is preparing for the forthcoming 2021 general elections.
