Egyptian giants, Zamalek Sports Club have sacked former Uganda Cranes coach, Milutin Sredojevic Micho as their tactician.
The Serbian Wolf’s fate was determined after a string of unsatisfying results that saw the Egyptian giants relegated to fifth in the Egyptian premier league after losing to Enppi last week but was also humiliated in a 3-0 defeat to TP Mazembe in their opening game of the group in the CAF Champions League away in Kinshasa.
On Monday, the club based in Cairo whose foundation dates back 108 years ago parted ways with Micho before replacing him with French international, Patrice Carteron who has had stints at the Mali national team, TP Mazembe and Al Ahly as manager.
Micho’s sacking comes only four months after being appointed as Zamalek coach from Orlando Pirates in South Africa.
Only a month after joining the club, Micho guided Zamalek to their 27th Egyptian Cup title after beating Sebastien Desabre’s Pyramids in the finals.
However, in the past few months, things have not been moving on well at Zamalek with reports of unpaid players’ wages taking centre stage.
"Starting the journey with honeymoon winning Egyptian Cup & looking for much better in the season all got stuck with players not being paid for 4 months & after today refusing to train I requested my agent to part ways with Zamalek & move on in new upcoming challenges,” the 49-year-old journeyman said on Monday.
