Members of the National Unity Platform (NUP) in Busiro North have set aside internal disagreements as they prepare to host their party president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, for campaign activities in the constituency.

Party members said the reconciliation was necessary to strengthen unity and ensure smooth mobilization ahead of Kyagulanyi’s expected campaign visit on Saturday, January, 10.

“We realized that our internal misunderstandings were weakening our efforts, so we agreed to put them aside and focus on activities that will move our party forward,” one NUP member said.

Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, is expected to campaign in Busiro North, a development that has prompted local party leaders and supporters to intensify preparations.

During a coordination meeting, members appealed to security agencies not to block or interfere with venues earmarked for their leader’s campaign engagements.

“We are calling upon security agencies to allow our president to access all the venues we have prepared for him. They should not frustrate our lawful activities,” another member said.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Kisekka Bantubalamu said security personnel should focus on protecting citizens rather than intimidating them.

“The work of security is to protect people, not to threaten them simply because they are happy to see their leader,” Kiseka said.

He added that the party has put in place alternative arrangements in case police block the planned venues.

“Even if police block some of the venues, we have other options ready. Our activities will go on,” he noted.

The NUP members also called on residents of Busiro North to turn up in large numbers to welcome Kyagulanyi and demonstrate unity as the campaign season approaches.
