Kasanda District Woman Member of Parliament, Flavia Nabagabe Kalule, has expressed optimism about her party’s prospects in the upcoming general elections, highlighting both her personal growth as an incumbent and the strengthening of democratic engagement across the country.

Speaking during NBS Frontline on Thursday, Kalule reflected on the just concluded nomination exercise, describing it as a “fresh experience” compared to her first time vying for elective office.

“This nomination exercise was a fresh experience for me. Now that I am an incumbent, the experience is different. At the end of the day, the nominations were a bit fairer than in the previous electoral period,” she said.

Kalule, a staunch member of the National Unity Platform (NUP), voiced strong confidence in her party’s ability to expand its parliamentary representation in the 12th Parliament.

While acknowledging improvements in the electoral process, Kalule noted that challenges remain in some areas where entrenched political actors attempt to suppress fair competition.

“There are predominant actors in certain areas who feel they are the alphas and omegas and don’t want to engage in democracy,” she observed.

Kalule’s remarks underscore her continued advocacy for transparency, inclusivity, and democratic participation in Uganda’s political landscape.

Kalule reaffirmed her commitment to championing the interests of the people of Kasanda District and to supporting NUP’s mission of promoting good governance, equity, and the rule of law.
