Sudan has continued to accuse United Arab Emirates (UAE) of arming the rival Sudanese paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), in  the ongoing conflict ravaging the country.

Sudanese ambassador to Uganda, Ahmed Ibrahim said they have “credible evidence” of UAE arming the RSF militia to “ prolong” the ongoing war.

“The militia launched the proxy war on behalf of United Arab emirates which backs and supports the militia and providing them with weapons, machineries, finance, and other logistics. The interference of UAE to fuel this war is very clear,” Mr.Ibrahim said.

“There is a continuation of arms convoys and logistical support to the militia by UAE through the Sudan border with Chad and Central African Republic. This begin in April to transport weapons and UAE has continued transport military aid.”

Mr.Ibrahim said there are daily flights from UAE to drop logistical support to Rapid Support Forces.

The  Emirati government has in the past denied such accusations, calling them “ludicrous.”

UAE’s ambassador to the United Nations, Mohamed Abushahab recently described these accusations as  made as a distraction from “grave violations that are happening on the ground”.

Speaking to journalists on Friday, Sudanese ambassador to Uganda insisted that UAE has not ceased to supply weapons and other support to RSF in a bid to enable Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo continue fighting.

He insisted the war in Sudan in not a conflict between two generals.

“It is unfair when you hear  it being described as a conflict between two generals or warring parties. This kind of description is catastrophic in this region as it will lead to rise up of other militias,” Mr.Ibrahim said.

“This militia( RSF) is committing violence on daily basis. It is beyond imagination, destruction of infrastructure including hospitals and schools, displacing people, rape among others are happening.”

He called upon the international community to condemn these human rights violations  “and atrocities” committed by the militia.

“They should exert pressure on UAE to stop providing them with weapons, mercenaries, finance and other logistics. This will help stop the war.”

Asked on claims that the fighting in Sudan is a proxy war between UAE on one side against Russia and Iran on the other side, the Sudanese ambassador to Uganda dismissed the claims.

“We have relations with all countries and military cooperation with not only Iran and Russia  but many others. Sudan is open to relations with many other countries.”
