SFC washes its hands clean of  ‘General’ accused of land grabbing
SFC spokesperson, Maj Jimmy Omara.

The Special Forces Command has distanced itself from an imposter who identified himself as an SFC General and involved in land grabbing.

A retired university lecturer recently petitioned the Chief of Defence Forces in the UPDF, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba to rein in on a man who he accused of forcefully grabbing his farmland and encouraging other people to do the same.

Dr. Ssengooba Kasule, a retired lecturer at Kyambogo University alleged in the petition that  Philly  Samula who identified himself as a General in the Special Forces Command had raided his land measuring land 198 hectares in two  villages of Kanoni and Luteebe in Lwanda sub county, Rakai district and forcefully taken it over but also encouraging locals to grab other parts of the same land.

“I have known this government for effectively controlling and managing the discipline of its men and women in uniform. Having such incidents takes us back into the memories of the past regimes where soldiers would torment the public at will without anything being done,” Dr.Ssengooba appealed.

However, in a statement on Monday, the SFC spokesperson , Maj Jimmy Omara said Samula has never been a member of the Special Forces Command as he claims.

“As SFC we do not have any militant or officer by the names of Samula Philly. I can confirm that mr. Samula is masquerading as an officer attached to SFC. Mobilizing other members of the community to besiege patches of land, destroying property and livestock in the name of SFC does not only dent our image as an institution but is also criminal,” Maj Omara said.

He said the Special Forces Command has together with the police launched investigations into the matter to bring the suspect to book.
