Kadaga unveils new tourism sites in Busoga
The first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, has unveiled two new tourism sites in Busoga in her quest to promote tourism in the region
Nakyaaka Medicinal Forest and Namagero Cultural Site located in Kizuba Sub County Namutumba District are the new tourists sites added on the tourism menu in Busoga subregion.

Busoga tourism and heritage's Hellen Namutamba underscored the significance of the new sites.
"Nakyaaka Forest sits on eight acres piece of land and has many trees which can treat vast diseases while Namagero Cultural Site is one of the important cultural heritage in Busoga for the Baise Iganga clan because their first ancestor Byaruhanga settled there upon his arrival from Bunyoro," Namutamba said.
Kadaga who is the patron of tourism in Busoga Kingdom says it has potential of boosting household income among the people of Busoga
"I encourage you who stay near these tourist sites to engage in income-generating activities such that you tap income from tourists who visit this site," Kadaga encouraged locals.
"I am going to write to the Ministry of Tourism to ensure they construct revenue collections centres at the new sites."
She however cautioned locals from revealing their herbal formulas to tourists since it should be their source of income.
The brings a total of tourists attractions in Busoga to 38 spread across different districts (Chiefdoms) with notable ones including Source of the Nile in Jinja (Butembe Chiefdom), Kagulu Rock in Buyende District (Budiope Chiefdom), Bishop Hannington memorial site in Mayuge District (Bunha Chiefdom) among others.
Kadaga is also eyeing to include the headquarters of Isa Masiya Christian Sect on the list of religious tourist sites.
The sect is headed by Apostle Besweri Kaswabuli with headquarters in Namutumba District.
Kadaga who paid a courtesy call at Apostle Besweri's home says she is advocating for it to be among the recognised religious sects.
"When I meet the president I will remind him of the pledge he made towards the construction of your prayer house including 2000 pieces of iron sheets and other materials," Kadaga said
She later addressed a public gathering at Namutumba Town Council headquarters where the LCV Chairman of Namutumba David Mukisa asked her to ensure the new tourist sites get funding from government for their development.
"We get only shs10billion from government as Namutumba District Local government, so we are a bit constrained to develop our tourist sites, hence we seek your intervention to ensure we get more sources of funding to develop our new tourist sites," Mukisa said.
