Police in Kumi district are actively investigating a case of aggravated robbery of shillings 32 million from business man Emmanuel Oga.

Oga is a 35 year old Sudanese national resident in Sudan, but conducts business in Uganda.

The incident occurred at around mid night on August 16 along Kumi- Mbale high way in Atutur sub county within Kumi District.

Police say that on August 15, Oga and his employee Okello David came to Bukedea district in Uganda to buy rice and maize.

They had traveled with motor vehicle registration number SSD 300D a Fuso Fighter white in colour.

When they reached Atutur sub-county in Kumi District, his driver stopped the vehicle to allegedly take a short call along the road side.

Oga, who had remained in the motor vehicle, was attacked by six unknown men who came from the bush armed with knives.

They demanded for the money he had with him, whereupon they proceeded to force him to drink an unknown liquid packed in a mineral water bottle, then injected him with an unknown drug in the buttocks.

He lost consciousness and when he woke up in his motor vehicle,  all his belongings including the shillings 32 million, shirt, two phones and a lap top bag and driver were gone.

The PRO East Kyoga regional spokesperson, SP Oscar Gregg Ageca said a case vide SD ref 04/16/08/2023 and later Kumi CRB 524/2023 had been registered to investigate the matter.

He noted that the suspect Okello was born and raised in Bukedea district and was very much aware that his boss was in possession of cash money and may have connived with yet to be identified individuals.

Police say they have blacklisted the said vehicle and is actively hunting for Okello David, with his accomplices.
