Residents of Kakerenge, Matugga along Bombo Road woke up to shocking news after finding a body of a woman dumped in the swamp.
The body would late be identified as belonging to Elizabeth Nakato, a businesswoman at City House in Nakasero and resident of Katwe. It was found wrapped in a sack.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, scene of crime officers found the body with a paper containing a police reference file number of a case the deceased had reported in 2017.
"We found the SD reference and we based on that to investigate the identity of the woman as well as what could have possibly happened, " Owoyesigyire said.
The case which was reported at Katwe Police Station was of Malicious damage against a woman who was having an affair with Nakato's husband only identified as Ssegujja. The woman whose identity had been withheld by Police for her security was arrested shortly after news of Nakato's death reached her area of residence.
"police in Katwe had to intervene after residents attacked the woman at her home and tried to lynch her on accusation of killing Nakato," Owoyesigyire said.
Ssegujja who is also wanted by Police for questioning is currently on the run.
