Singer Alexander Bagonza, popularly known as A Pass, has clarified that while he admires the leader of National Unity Platform (NUP) Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine as an artist and considers him a friend, he does not want to use his name to promote his upcoming concert.
“I am a big fan of Bobi Wine besides politics, and we are friends. But I don’t want to use his name to promote my show,” A Pass stated.
“From my school days, I used to mime all Bobi Wine songs and those of Fire Base singers. However, my show is not about politics.”
A Pass emphasised that his concert, scheduled for January31, 2025, at Kampala Serena Hotel, is intended for all his fans regardless of their political affiliations.
“My show is for everyone who supports me whether they belong to the Democratic Party, National Resistance Movement, or National Unity Platform. I’m an artist, and music is a different entity from politics. While we may have divergent political views, music brings us together,” he explained.
The singer also shared details about his close friendship with Bobi Wine.
“I have visited Bobi Wine at his home three times, and he has done the same at my place. That shows how close we are. I even plan to invite him to my concert if I get the time,” A Pass said, adding, “Do you think he doesn’t know that I have a concert?”
A Pass further revealed that his family’s political affiliations have varied over time, noting, “My mother has supported the NRM since time immemorial.”
The singer urged his fans to focus on the music and leave politics aside, promising an unforgettable concert experience for all attendees.
